Difference between System software and Application software

                            Software

Software is opposite of hardware. Software is basically a set of instructions or commands or programs which instructs a system for performing a task. There are two types of software.
1. System software
2. Application software

Let's see some diffrence between this two types of software.

System software :

System software is a software that is designed to provide a platform for other softwares. It maintains system resources and give path for application software. This is a general purpose software which use low level language. But a system cannot run without system software. It runs automatically when a system is turned on. Some examples e of system software are
# macOS
# Linux
# Windows (xp, 7, 10)


Application software :

Application software is an end user software which is built for specific task. Application softwares use high level languages. It is a specific purpose software. A system can run without it. It runs on users request. Some examples of application software are
# Word processor
# spreadsheet
# web browsers
# email
# media player
# games
# photo or video editor etc..




There are two types of application software.
1. Basic application software
2. Specialized application software

Let's see some academic use of this two types of application software.

Basic application software:

For academic purposes we use many basic application software. For example,

 we use word processor for typing notes

Spread sheet for saving student data

PowerPoint for preparing presentations.


Specialized application software:

We use many specialized application software for academic use like,

Zoom

Webex meetings

Blackboard.
