Bangladesh is a country full of history. Among all the historical places, Mohastan Gor is one of the oldest and con-incidence is, my home is 3 km away from the Mohastan Gor . Let's see details about Mohastan Gor.



Location :

Mohastan Gor is the most popular historical place in Bangladesh which is located in about 13 kilometres north from the main town of Bogra.The main village of Mohastan Gor is in Shibganj thana, Bogra District. It is situated on the bank of the river Korotoa. It is the earliest urban archaeological site that found in Bangladesh which has a area of approximately 79 square kilometres.

History :

Mohastan Gor is an ancient city which was called 'Pundranagar' or 'Pundra-bardhanpur'. It has a rich history. It is a 1600 year old town. It was sequentially empire of 'Mourjo', 'Gupta', 'Pal' and 'Shen' lineage. A Chinese tourist Himansung got impressed on Mohastan Gor in that time and according to his description, it was an enriched and wealthy city in that time. Before the entry of Muslim, it was used as a fort. But after that, it was used as a kingdom by Sultans. Lets see some historical sights of Mohastan Gar.

Palace of Poshu-Ram:

 It was The palace when Poshu Ram was ruling in Mohastan Gor.


The Fort:

It was used as a fort when Poshu Ram as ruling.


Geoat Well:

This well was a magical well. When Poshu ram was ruling, this well was a life saver. Heard that, In that time, the soldiers of Poshu Ram who died in the war, was dropped in the well and the got back their life again. later , the magical power was destroyed by dropping a piece of meat in the well by Sultan.

Gobinda Vita :

It was a temple of Gobinda which was broken down later.


Stone of God:

Heard that , this stone drinks milk even now. That's why the Hindu people pour milk in it.



Mazhar of Sultan:

After the death of Sultan, a Mazhar and a Mosque was build centering the grave of Sultan.




Behula's Basor-Ghar:

It was the house that was built for the safety of Chand Sadagar's son named Lakhindor.
